Mosiac Workshop

This fun one day workshop will give you an opportunity to learn understand mosaics while at the same time create a piece using the direct method. Explore design layout, cutting techniques, tile choices, and grouting your piece. All tools, tile, adhesive and grout will be provided.  Wear comfortable clothes you don’t mind getting dirty and bring a pack lunch.

Advanced Mask Making Workshop

JOURNEY – Through sculpting, painting, and adorning your plaster mold, your personal guide/healer mask emerges. This process is transformative for artists, therapists, healers, and anyone interested in dreams, the mysteries of energy and creativity flows for self-discovery and healing. All levels welcome, no art experience necessary.

A plaster gauze mold will be created on your face in Part I of the workshop. You may work in teams of two or request the instructor to apply your mask. Part II of the workshop starts with a relaxing meditation and a complimentary glass of wine. You will then have the opportunity to paint and adorn your mask (masks need one week to dry thoroughly).

 

Materials Fee includes all plaster mask making gauze, materials and tools -- a variety of art supplies (acrylic paint, tools, hanging wire, beads, feathers, fabric, patterns, decorative paper and old books, natural materials, etc.). Please collect and bring personal items for your mask (e.g. locks of hair, special mementos, images, photos, jewelry, etc.)

Printmaking without a Press - Monoprints

Monoprints are considered to be a more painterly approach to print making. No two prints are alike and each displays a unique result you don’t get with painting on paper. The delight in creating monoprints is the spontaneity and the use of printmaking, drawing and painting.

Participant will explore printmaking utilizing watercolors, inks, a variety of papers, printing plates and tools.

Graphic Novel Illustration

Create your own comics. In this class students will learn the ins and outs of the graphic novel medium. Emphasis will be placed on visual storytelling and effective paneling. Botanical Watercolor Painting with Nancy Saltsman

6 Week Class Watercolors aren’t hard in spite of rumors to the contrary. Participants will learn to use a simple 12-color palette. We will know how to apply glazes, dry brush techniques, wet into wet applications, the ability to transfer drawings to 140 # paper and the knowledge of basic color theory and color mixing to achieve brilliant high intensity paintings.

Description: This six-hour workshop is an introduction to making single-layer prints on paper using unmounted linoleum plates and water-based ink. Participants will learn the basics of designing, carving, and printing a 3”x3” or 3”x5” image, and will produce a limited edition of fine art prints or greeting cards.
