Sept. 23- Nov 4 (no class Oct.14) total 6 classes $200; plus materials. Supply list here
We combine a variety of 2-dimensional media- which leads us into an exciting and uncharted territory. Every medium has something special to offer the inquiring artist. I present ideas, methods, and materials with the understanding that every person in my class has a different set of skills. My approach is to introduce the mediums, do a demonstration and then encourage my students to pursue the process. The end is so much greater than the means. And the end I have in mind is the expression of personal vision.
This is a material based class and is designed for continuing artists and adventurous beginners. Some experience in drawing and painting preferred.
Week 1: Introduction and demonstration of a range of materials. First demo: Acrylic/ watercolor- spray techniques, incorporating stencils, spray bottles, wax and a variety of templates.
Week 2. Adding Soft Pastel into the mix. Demonstration on a variety of ways to combine these 2 mediums.
Week 3. Pouring techniques with Acrylics.
Week 4. Continuing work with acrylics. Introduction of water-based graphite, transfer paper, and other mark making tools.
Week 5. Presentation of collage processes
Week 6. Continuation and development of works that incorporate at least 3 of the mediums approached. Final Discussion/ closure.
