Enjoy a display of artwork and meet the Bothwell Art Center’s community of studio artists at the patriotic-themed open house “Red, White and Bothwell” on July 28, 2018. The free, family friendly event will showcase the work of award-winning fine artist Avianne, who will be celebrating her recent US Citizenship. Originally from South Africa, Avianne works in multiple media to create vivid pieces, from small paintings to large murals. For the past few years, she has taught a variety of classes at the Bothwell. Her work and those of her students will be exhibited in the building’s West End.
“Red, White and Bothwell” is an open house during which artists will be working as well as exhibiting some of their completed pieces. Linda Ryan will be running a free mini-workshop featuring her pour paint technique. The first 20 participants to sign up for the workshop will create a refrigerator magnet. Among the many artists working on site and demonstrating their techniques will be fiber artist Ingrid Nilson, acrylic and oil artist Steve Rossi, who will run a short demonstration, and George Canberg, who will exhibit his encaustic, hot-wax painting technique.
Thishe event is free and open to the public from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm. Visitors of all ages are encouraged to stop by and meet the artists, explore the space, and enjoy light refreshments.
